Louis Rees-Zammit, the former rugby star from Wales, is set to join the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad after being released by the Kansas City Chiefs. Rees-Zammit, 22, transitioned from rugby to American football through the NFL’s International Player Pathway program. He signed with the Chiefs as a running back on a three-year deal and participated in all three of the team’s preseason games, playing as a running back, wide receiver, and special teams contributor.
Despite his efforts, including a brief stint as a kicker, Rees-Zammit did not make the Chiefs’ final 53-man roster. However, a source confirmed that the Jaguars are bringing him on as part of their 17-member practice squad, where he will continue to develop his skills with the possibility of being elevated to the active roster. Rees-Zammit’s move to Jacksonville comes after multiple teams showed interest in him during the IPP pro day.
