MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State senior Cooper Schultz qualified for the 124th U.S. Amateur by recording a 3-under par 67 during sectional qualifying at Brook Hollow Golf Club in Dallas, Texas, on Monday. Schultz tied for sixth place in the sectional qualifier, which advanced 16 players, marking his third appearance in the U.S. Amateur after qualifying in 2021 and 2022.
Schultz began his round with a birdie on the par-4 3rd but encountered bogeys on Nos. 6 and 9. He recovered strongly, going bogey-free and 4-under par on the back 9 with birdies on Nos. 10, 12, 13, and 15 to secure his spot in the tournament.
The 124th U.S. Amateur will take place from August 12-18 at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota. The competition features 312 players, with the field narrowing to the top 64 after 36 holes of stroke play on August 12 and 13. Match play begins on August 14, with television coverage starting on Peacock and GOLF Channel.
