Voice of the Chiefs Mitch Holthus has been named the 2024 “Kansan of the Year” by the Kansas Society of Washington, D.C. Recognized for his distinguished career and contributions to Kansas, Holthus, known for his enduring presence as the Chiefs’ play-by-play broadcaster since 1994, received this honor on May 13, 2024. The award acknowledges his long-standing dedication to representing Kansas City football. Holthus, a native of Smith Center, Kansas, and a graduate of Kansas State University, has been a prominent figure in sports broadcasting for over three decades. The Kansas Society praised his achievements, including his role in three Super Bowl victories for the Chiefs and his induction into several halls of fame. Holthus will be celebrated at the Kansas Society’s annual banquet on July 9th.
