MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State outfielder Brendan Jones was selected by the New York Yankees in the 12th round (No. 361 overall) of the 2024 MLB Draft on Tuesday. This marks the first time since 2011 that K-State had five players drafted in a single year. Jones is the sixth Wildcat picked by the Yankees and the first since Jordan Floyd in 2013.
Jones had a standout junior season with a .303/.442/.500 slash line, 13 doubles, 9 home runs, and 40 stolen bases. He led the Big 12 in walks and was third in runs scored. His 40 steals were the second-most in a single season in K-State history.
A native of Greenbrier, Tenn., Jones was the first Wildcat named a Gold Glove Finalist with a .994 fielding percentage. Over his three-year career, he had a .993 fielding percentage with 289 putouts and seven assists.
