Ascension Via Christi in Wichita is currently investigating and remedying a cyberattack that was detected on Wednesday, May 8. An ongoing investigation is being conducted by Ascension with the assistance of Mandiant, a third-party expert. During this time, access to some systems has been temporarily suspended.

Ascension stated in a news release that they are well-prepared for such disruptions and have implemented protocols to ensure that patient care continues to be delivered safely and with as little impact as possible. There has been a disturbance in clinical operations, and they are evaluating the extent of this disruption.

If any sensitive information has been affected, Ascension said those individuals will be informed and will be assisted in line with legal and regulatory guidelines. They are also communicating with their business partners to ensure they are informed about the situation and can take necessary measures to protect their systems.
