Blue Valley Technologies Bringing Fiber to Rural Towns

By Ryan Duey

Blue Valley Technologies is advancing its fiber-to-the-home project in Washington and Marshall Counties, including Hanover, Washington, Frankfort, and Waterville.

Supplies, including massive spools of fiber, have arrived as the team prepares for construction. Chief Operations Officer John Smith noted that the construction process is extensive. The company is finalizing engineering designs and obtaining necessary permits and easements. The next step is securing final construction approval from the USDA. Once approved, crews will begin installing aerial fiber, aiming to start construction in late 2024, with customer installations expected by Fall 2025. However, timelines may vary due to contractor schedules and weather conditions.

This project is partly funded by a grant from the USDA Broadband ReConnect program, supporting the expansion of high-speed internet access in rural communities.
