Starting January 16th, Cloud County Community College was be offering adult education, GED, and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes on both the Concordia and Junction City campuses.
The Adult Education program at Cloud offers an atmosphere that helps students gain the skills necessary for success at home and work. These classes are open to individuals ages 16 and older who are not enrolled in school. The basic skills and diploma preparation classes are offered in the afternoons and evenings in Concordia, and mornings, afternoons, and evenings in Junction City. This is to accommodate work schedules. The classes will be small, and have both classroom and computer instruction.
Basic skills will also be a focus of the class; things like everyday reading, math, and English. Employability skills will also be a focus while earning WorkReady Credentials. Students will gain experience using Microsoft Word and the internet and will earn technology certificates.
The ESL classes will help provide instruction in English-language skills like speaking, writing, listening, and reading. Classes are designed to help improve those skills as well as conversational English.
All students must attend orientation before enrolling in classes and they are to call for an orientation appointment. For both locations, orientation appointments can be made for either January 9th or 10th. The first day of classes at both locations will be January 16th.
There is a limit on class sizes.
