Cloud County Courthouse Implements Enhanced Security Protocols

By Ryan Duey

The Cloud County Courthouse has implemented enhanced security protocols due to a recent credible threat against 12th Judicial District employees and local law enforcement.

Cloud County Sheriff Ken Davis announced the changes on July 15th to the Cloud County Commission. The Concordia Police Department is investigating the threat, with charges to be forwarded to Cloud County Attorney Rob Walsh.

Public access is now limited to the west door facing Washington Street, and weapons, including pocketknives, are strictly prohibited. Security screenings are mandatory for all visitors, conducted by the Cloud County Sheriff’s Department at a station near the main entrance.

Deputies will check the contents of purses or briefcases, and visitors must pass through metal detection equipment. Any prohibited items will be identified during the screening process.
