On Wednesday, October 2nd, The Cloud County Commission met for their regular meeting. After public comments closed, the Domestic Violence Association of Central Kansas (DVACK) presented a Domestic Violence Awareness Month Proclamation for October 2024. Mayor Charles Lambertz signed it, proclaiming October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) in Cloud County.

DVAM is a national campaign created to raise awareness about domestic violence. Every October, organizations and individuals unite across the country to uplift the needs and voices of survivors of domestic violence. Congress originally declared October as DVAM in 1989.

In their October newsletter, DVACK shared that they have served 543 victims, with 487 of those being domestic violence victims. DVACK also helps pets and has provided a safe shelter to 7 cats and 9 dogs for a total of 589 nights of stay.
