During a recent Dickinson County Planning and Zoning Commission meeting Commissioners voted to recommend a two-year moratorium on solar energy projects in Dickinson County.
There are currently no solar projects proposed or under consideration in the county, making it the perfect time to impose the moratorium highlighted Director Tim Hamilton
With the moratorium in place, it gives the Commission time to study the benefits or disadvantages of solar farms. This will give them time to research what other counties and communities are doing in order to create regulations for the future.
A moratorium prevents any applications from being submitted by acquiring solar farm developers during the two-year period. The Commission also discussed other alternative energy sources that will potentially be coming in the future, like hydrogen, also.
