In a Facebook announcement, Ninnescah Veterinary Service LLC in Hutchinson, confirmed they received a positive diagnosis of rabies in a cat. The post says a client picked up a farm cat that bit them on the arm. Dr. Clay Keeler of the clinic advised the client to seek emergency care and begin rabies vaccinations immediately.
Two days later it was confirmed that the cat was positive for rabies. The clinic stresses the importance of rabies vaccinations. The post says, “Rabies is a deadly disease but fortunately the vaccine is very effective in preventing the disease. Please get your pets vaccinated for rabies. It could be a matter of life and death for not only your pet but also you.”
