Field Survey for Culvert Replacement to Begin Next Week in Republic County

By Payton Tholstrup

On Monday December 4th, the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) will begin a field survey to gather the necessary information for a proposed culvert replacement on K-148 in Republic County.

The improvements would be on K-148, which is about five miles west of the Washington/Republic County Line.

The length of the field survey will be about 2,000 feet and the survey will be based on existing highway alignment.

The activities in the survey will use survey instruments on the ground to determine locations of existing features within the corridor. A member of the survey crew will also contact property owners to ask for permission to enter private property.

KDOT expects the survey to be completed by January 20th, 2024.

Chad Marsh, P.S., Survey Project Manager, with Kirkham Michael will oversee this survey for KDOT.

Anyone with questions can contact KDOT Public Affairs Manager Ashley Perez at 785-826-6799.
