Former Freedom Run Director Honored as Freedom Runner, Posthumously

The 48th Annual Freedom Run Committee is honoring the late Jerry Frakes as the 2024 Freedom Runner, celebrating his contributions to the race and the community. Jerry, who passed away on January 11, 2024, at 83, served as the Freedom Run’s Race Director for 30 years. His family, including wife Connie, son Kelly, daughter Robin, and grandson Austin, will participate in the event.

Known for his infectious energy and dedication, Jerry was a notable athlete, businessman, and community leader. Famous for his American Flag running shorts and neon sunglasses, Jerry created a race that blended competition with community celebration, welcoming both elite and recreational runners. His legacy of enthusiasm and excellence continues to inspire the Freedom Run tradition.
