Today, Governor Laura Kelly unveiled Elite Harness’s commitment to invest $14 million, thereby generating 110 new employment opportunities in Wellington. Elite Harness intends to renovate an already-existing facility, transforming it into a cutting-edge 50,000-square-foot manufacturing hub.
The company’s operations will focus on crafting wiring harnesses and bespoke cables catering to a variety of sectors such as automotive, industrial, agricultural, aerospace, and other fields reliant on electrical connections.
The current wiring harness and custom cable market stands at $90 billion, primed for expansion in the upcoming decade. Elite is dedicated to maintaining its leading position within this industry through the utilization of cutting-edge equipment and harnessing the latest technological advancements.
“We have a sister company that is located in Tulsa, so we considered building there, but the State of Kansas and Sumner County really stepped up to the plate and made Wellington a wise choice for us,” Elite Harness President Nathan Smith said.
Smith attributed much of the success of bringing Elite to Kansas to Stacy Davis of the Sumner County Economic Development Commission.
In June 2024, Elite will unveil the renovated facility and state-of-the-art equipment during an open house event.
