Irwin Army Community Hospital in Fort Riley Welcomes New Commander

By Ryan Duey

Col. Laudino Castillo assumed command of Irwin Army Community Hospital (IACH) at Fort Riley, succeeding Col. Anthony Gray.

Brig. Gen. Yolonda Summons commended Gray for his leadership amidst personnel shortages, budget constraints, and modernization efforts, enhancing medical readiness, appointment availability, and operating room utilization. Summons praised Gray’s legacy of excellence and welcomed Castillo, citing his extensive experience, including his recent role as Command Surgeon for the 21st Theater Sustainment Command in Germany.

Castillo, a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and former chief of the Department of Medicine at Brooke Army Medical Center, aims to achieve high-reliability organization status at IACH.

Gray will now serve with the U.S. Medical Command G-4, providing global medical logistics support.
