Junction City No Longer Part of Flint Hills Regional Council

By Ryan Duey

During the Junction City Commission Meeting on January 2nd Commissioners decided to drop its membership with the Flint Hills Regional Council for 2024.

The City did not budget for the membership this year, which would have totaled $20,000. Commissioner Jeff Underhill said he brought up the idea of getting out and no longer participating.

Commissioner Richard Pinaire moved to renew the annual membership pointing out that there could be help writing grants, but Underhill said he didn’t see the need for a grant writer. The motion to renew died for lack of a second.

The Flint Hills Regional Council is a non-profit organization made up of local Kansas governments to mutually provide services that benefit the quality of life throughout the Flint Hills Region.
