On May 28, Governor Laura Kelly announced that six communities in Kansas have been awarded nearly $5 million in funding from the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Program.
When combined with over $1 million in matching funds from the Kansas Infrastructure Hub and the Build Kansas Fund for two of the projects, along with local matching contributions, the total investment in Kansas for this round of SS4A grants exceeds $6.2 million.
In the latest series of announcements, the City of Topeka received a grant of $4.3 million from the federal SS4A funds, marking it as the third largest recipient in the nation.
Matt Volz, who serves as the executive director of the Kansas Infrastructure Hub, stated that the assistance offered through the Kansas Infrastructure Hub equips communities with the essential tools to fully maximize BIL funding opportunities.
