The Kansas Supreme Court is welcoming public feedback on the proposed revisions to the child support guidelines, which have been in effect since the start of the year. Public comments can be submitted via an online survey until 5 p.m. on Friday, April 26. The child support guidelines webpage on the Kansas judicial branch website provides a version of the guidelines with strikethroughs, along with a table outlining the proposed updates.

The Kansas Child Support Guidelines Advisory Committee has proposed updates. These include a revision of the equal parenting time formula, which will be renamed as the direct expense formula. Additional updates include technical improvements.

In 2023, the committee put forth updates that were sanctioned by the Supreme Court and implemented on January 1, 2024. The updates currently open for public commentary introduce modifications to the guidelines that came into effect on January 1.

The Kansas Child Support Guidelines Advisory Committee conducts a review of the Kansas child support guidelines every four years. This is to ensure that the approximately $35 million paid monthly by parents in support is fair and suitable for the everyday essential needs of the children they are supporting.
