KHP Reports Fewer DUI Arrests Than Last Year Over the Holiday Weekend

The Christmas Weekend Holiday Activity Report has been released by the Kansas Highway Patrol or KHP. The reporting period began at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22nd, and ran until 11:59 p.m. on Christmas morning, Monday, December 25th.

The 2023 report indicates that KHP made fewer DUI arrests this year, with 7 compared to 16 in 2022. Law enforcement handed out 370 speeding citations, along with 326 warnings. It was reported 21 seatbelt citations were issued, including 9 child restraint citations. Over the reporting period for the holiday, 449 motorists needed assistance from the KHP.

Two non-DUI-related fatalities and two non-DUI-related fatal crashes were also reported.
