Launch of NFB-NEWSLINE® Service for Individuals with Visual or Physical Disabilities

By Trish Svoboda

The State Library of Kansas and the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) jointly announced today that the Kansas Talking Books program, part of the State Library of Kansas, will now sponsor and administer the NFB-NEWSLINE® service in the state. NFB-NEWSLINE® is a free audio and Braille service providing access to over 500 publications, including newspapers, magazines, TV listings, retail ads, job listings, and breaking news sources.

The service aims to make printed information accessible to individuals with visual or physical disabilities. This addition to the Kansas Talking Books program will allow patrons to access current and reliable information from various sources through touch-tone telephone, website, iOS mobile app, Amazon Alexa smart speakers, and other compatible devices.
