Manhattan’s Flint Hill Breadbasket Taking Steps to Expand

By Ryan Duey

Since 1982 the Flint Hills Breadbasket (FHBB) in Manhattan has been providing food to families in need in Riley County and beyond. Over those 42 years, the Organization has grown substantially, distributing over one million pounds of food just last year.

With demands rising, FHBB has outgrown its current location and was in need of larger facilities. On June 7th, they announced the purchase of two new locations in Manhattan, at 2326 Sky-Vue Lane and 620 Rosencutter. Karla Hagemeister, FHBB Executive Director, said these new facilities should make it feel more like a normal shopping experience.

The generous support of the community over the years is not lost on FHBB. Hagemeister wanted to thank the community for all their support.

There is currently no set date for the move. You can keep up to date on the progress of this project and donate to help support FHBB by visiting their website.
