A Newton woman has released her first book. Alyson Macy says her book ‘Legacy Of The Diamond Holders: The Journey To The Mountain Core’ was inspired by many factors, “From other writers, Imagination Growing Wild. And when you read those other books, you want to read new ones. Right? You want to keep reading. So I said to myself, I want to be the person who inspires others. This book came from a story in my head, from reading others, from dreams, and creativity, and I wanted to be the one who provided that to other people as well because maybe they will then read my book and have the same reaction.”
In January of 2023, Macy had major shoulder surgery and was forced to stay home. She spent time reading and watching movies when she had a moment of inspiration, the synopsis for a story, as she didn’t have the ability to write or type a complete story. Then, in February of 2024, she revisited the idea, “
About 20 chapters into the book, I told myself I would do it. I wasn’t sure if I was you know, I’m not exactly, you know, a teenager anymore, but CS Lewis was quoted saying, you are never too old to set another goal or dream another dream. And I said, then I’m gonna do it. I’m gonna finish it. After I did, I said, I want the world to read this. I want readers to read it and have that same inspiration. And I got it edited, got a cover design, and moved forward. And I told myself, it’s going to happen. It’s time for the world to read it. And then I published.”
Macy says that as a first-time author, she had no idea how to publish her work, so she joined an online group for writers, helping writers and authors help new authors. There, she was able to find a professional editor to help her through the process. There will be a second book, as the rough outline is in her head. However, she wants to enjoy her first book being published and then start writing book two after the holiday season.
Legacy Of The Diamond Holders: Book One, The Journey To The Mountain Core, is available on Amazon, Kindle, and Goodreads. Macy is still learning how to publish the book in paperback.
