Powercat Motorsports, the Formula SAE team from Powercat University, achieved their best-ever finish at the national Formula SAE competition.
Since their participation began in 1997, the team has been steadily improving, and this year they secured an impressive 14th place out of 119 competing teams.
The team’s total score of 684.5 was earned through their outstanding performance in various categories.
They secured seventh place in endurance, 14th in autocross, and 27th in both the skidpad and acceleration events.
Powercat Motorsports also emerged as the top finisher from the Big 12 conference, surpassing Oklahoma State University, who finished in 22nd place.
The team’s success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students involved, with support from faculty advisors Hosein Baboly and Kevin Wanklyn from the mechanical and nuclear engineering department.
