Rural Breweries Get Crafty in Honor of Kansas Day

By Trish Svoboda

Kansas Day is January 29th, and to celebrate eight small-town Kansas breweries are collaborating to raise funds for the Kansas Sampler Foundation. To observe the state’s entry into the Union as the 34th state in 1861, these breweries are crafting new beers for the occasion, as stated in a release. The breweries will also have special activities, showcasing Kansas products, trivia, and more to honor the state’s birthday.

Most of these events will take place between Jan. 25 and Jan. 29. The participating breweries include:

· Center Pivot Restaurant & Brewery, Quinter

· Defiance Brewing Company, Hays

· Hidden Trail Brewing, Garden City

· Irrigation Ales, Courtland

· Ladybird Brewing, Winfield

· Riverbank Brewing, Council Grove

· Sandhills Brewing, Hutchinson

· The Farm & The Odd Fellows, Minneapolis

Each of the breweries will also back the efforts of the Kansas Sampler Foundation, an organization dedicated to preserving and sustaining rural culture for three decades. Each brewery will donate funds to the foundation, supporting the foundation’s work of educating Kansans and the state and networking with, as well as supporting rural communities.

The release noted that Kansans are invited to send selfies of themselves from the participating breweries to discoverkansasbeer@gmail.com anytime between Jan. 15 and Feb. 29 for a chance to win merchandise and prizes. For a full listing of events, visit https://linktr.ee/kansas.sampler.foundation
