The Truman Library Institute announced that Senator Roy Blunt will receive the 2024 Harry S. Truman Legacy of Leadership Award during the 25th Annual Wild About Harry celebration on April 18, 2024, in Kansas City, Missouri.
Established by the Truman Library Institute in 2010, the award celebrates the leadership of America’s 33rd president and acknowledges individuals who have consistently and admirably served our nation and its democratic values. Previous recipients include the late Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, as well as U.S. Congressmen James Clyburn and the late John Lewis. These individuals reflect the leadership attributes embodied by Harry Truman: courage, wisdom, foresight, humility, and accountability.
“The Institute is pleased to honor Senator Blunt with the 2024 Harry S. Truman Legacy of Leadership Award,” said Alex Burden, executive director of the Truman Library Institute. “Like Truman, Senator Blunt’s service to his community and country has always been grounded in a deep understanding of history and a commitment to bipartisanship. He is a champion of education and has been a tremendous supporter of the civics-education mission at the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library & Museum.”
Senator Blunt will be honored with the Harry S. Truman Legacy of Leadership Award at the Wild About Harry event on April 18th. Throughout his career, spanning 26 years in the U.S. Congress, he represented Missouri with distinction in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Senator Blunt holds the unique distinction of being elected to leadership roles by his peers in both chambers. He chaired significant committees, including the Republican Policy Committee and the Rules Committee, and led the Presidential Inaugural Committees for two U.S. Presidents. Blunt’s commitment to public service and leadership is widely recognized and celebrated.
