A relatively new and quiet non-profit, The Magdalene Project, has made a significant impact, helping over 1,200 people in the Junction City area. Since its inception 21 months ago, the Project has provided essential services to underemployed families, homeless individuals, domestic violence survivors, Veterans, teens facing mental health challenges, and those struggling with addiction.
Their initiatives include free quarterly Vet Clinics with K-State Vet Med, an annual health fair, a 10-day warming shelter in January, weekly community dinners, and funerals for the homeless or estranged. They also offer summer events for kids, Christmas blessings, and outreach focused on the homeless, trafficked, and struggling families, enhancing collaboration between local social service agencies.
The Magdalene Project will host an informational meeting this Wednesday from 6-7 pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Junction City for those interested in learning more or volunteering. Additional details are available on their Facebook page.
