Concordia Snow Emergency Routes

Emma Thyfault, Concordia Police Department

Concordia and the surrounding area are expecting 6-10 inches of snow this weekend (January 4-January 5).

This notice is to remind citizens who park on a street that has been designated a Snow Emergency Route that a storm-related parking prohibition on all snow emergency routes is in effect from November 1st to April 1st. During that period, no person shall park, or allow to remain parked, freezing rain, or sleet is forecast of occurring.

The following streets or portion of street within the city are designed snow emergency routes:

  • Second Steet, from Cedar St. to Valley St.
  • Valley Street, from Second St. to Sixth St.
  • Cedar Street, from Second St. to Sixth St.
  • Sixth Street, from Second Ave. to Doster St.
  • Cedar Street, from Sixth St. to Eighteenth St.
  • Archer Street, from Sixth St. to Eighteenth St.
  • Eleventh Street, from Cedar St. to Lincoln St.
  • State Street, from Eighteenth St. to Campus Dr.
  • Campus Drive, from State St. to Republican St.
  • All College Drive from Lincoln St. to Campus Dr.

Concordia Police Department is asking that you plan now, before the snow falls, to locate an alternate site to park vehicles off the street. According to the City of Concordia Ordinance, if a winter storm is forecast or occurs and vehicles parked on a snow emergency route are not removed, the vehicles may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense.

Starting tonight (January 2nd), Concordia Police Department will begin to place bright orange papers under windshield wipers of the vehicles parked on snow routes. If your vehicle has an orange letter, please know that it is parking in a snow route and should be moved by this weekend.

To be on the safe side, a general rule of thumb is- when snow, freezing rain or sleet is predicted- move the vehicle.

The public’s cooperation is greatly appreciated. If there are questions, please contact the Concordia Police Department at 785-243-3131.
