USGS Reports Earthquake Activity Near Assaria

Residents across central Kansas have felt the ground tremble several times over the last few days.

On Saturday, August 2nd, just before 4:30 pm, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.4 was reported 4.3 miles east of Assaria, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Just a short time later, another earthquake shook the ground, with a magnitude of 2.7.

Then on Sunday, August 3rd, the USGS reported another earthquake with 3.3 magnitude, about 4 miles southeast of Assaria.

On Monday, August 4th, around 6:30 pm, the USGS reported that another earthquake had occurred, this time with a 3.3 magnitude. This earthquake was also near Assaria, about 3 miles east.

The earthquakes were felt as far away as Salina, Gypsum, and Lindsborg.

While the light shaking was felt in surrounding towns, no damage was reported.
