Obituary-Marvin Brungardt

Marvin Alexander Brungardt, the son of Fred and Barbara (Dinkel) Brungardt was born on September 13, 1943, in Fairbury, Nebraska. He grew up later in Washington, Kansas, on the family farm, and attended school in Washington.

Marvin was married to Janice M. Kolars on February 27, 1965, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Washington, Kansas. To this union, two children were born, Brian and Natalie.

Marvin worked for the Republic County Highway Department until his retirement. He also volunteered for the Cuba Rural Fire Department. In his free time, he enjoyed camping and spending time with his family as well as having coffee with local friends.

Marvin passed away on December 22, 2023, in Grand Island, Nebraska, at the age of 80 years, 3 months, and 9 days.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Barbara, his wife Janice Brungardt, sister Leona (Brungardt) Ouellette, sister Martina Brungardt, brother Alvin Brungardt, brothers-in-law Delphos Ouellette Jr. and Danny Shannon, sister-in-law Marlene Davis, and her husband Loren.

Left to cherish his memories are son Brian Brungardt and his wife Monica of Gardner, daughter Natalie Shears and her husband Jerry of Alda, Nebraska; grandchildren, Teren and Brenna Brungardt, Keaton Shears and his wife Stephanie, Delaney Shears and her fiancé Damir Gumerov; step grandchildren Kalli Nygren and her family, and Mindy DeBuhr and her family; great-grandchildren, Kash and Kambria Shears.

Marvin is also survived by his sister Hilda Shannon, brother Melvin Brungardt of Washington, sister-in-law Marilyn Brungardt of Washington, brother-in-law Melvin Kolars and his wife Victoria of Belleville, many nieces, nephews, and a community of friends.

Memorial Services will be Friday, January 5th, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville with Father Joseph Kieffer officiating. Following the services, the family will greet friends at a reception at the Cuba Community Center. A private family burial will occur at National Bohemian Cemetery, rural Cuba, at a later time.
