USD 379 Special Meeting Discusses Ways To Increase Public Engagement

By Quinn O’Hara

Last night, January 24th, USD 379 invited 45 various community members to discuss improvements to the district’s interactions and engagement with public stakeholders.

Groups represented in the meeting included current USD 379 students, current and retired staff, and board members, parents, local media representatives, and other local leaders.

USD 379 Community Engagement Coordinator Matt Weller, USD 379 Curriculum Director Jaclyn Pfizenmaier, and USD 379 Superintendent Brett Nelson led the meeting.

Attendees were purposefully grouped up into tables based on their background and role in the community. Matt Weller instructed to brainstorm ideas on improving two way collaboration and engagement between USD 379 and the public, admin and board member communication to the public, communication to stakeholders of policy changes, and improvements to the district’s website.

Weller says he and other district leaders will now compile those ideas and develop specific action steps to achieve the district’s goal of increasing USD 379 stakeholder and community engagement.
