Barton County Sheriff’s Office Issues Warning Following South Great Bend Theft

Deputies in Barton County got a call reporting a theft on Wednesday, January 31st just after 4:00 p.m. The theft happened south of Great Bend when the victim was flagged down, and a motorist claimed to be broke and needed money to get to New York. The victim then purchased jewelry from the motorist, which turned out to be fake.

The suspects are described as being of Middle Eastern descent with one of them wearing a blue sports jacket. The vehicle they were driving is a late model white Chevrolet Traverse with Texas plates TVF 8226. Another possible plate is Texas SPN 9592.

Nearby counties in Kansas have reported similar incidents with the same descriptions. Barton County Sheriff’s Office warns the public to be aware of the suspects, and if encountering them not to interact and immediately contact authorities. Barton County Sheriff’s Detectives are currently

The public is cautioned to not interact with these people if encountered and call 911 immediately to report.
