The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Lansing Police Department have initiated a death investigation after the discovery of human remains near a creek in Lansing.
Around 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18th, individuals walking along a creek bed stumbled upon skeletal remains and called police.
The Lansing Police Department requested KBI support around 6 p.m. that same Sunday. KBI agents and the Crime Scene Response Team were dispatched.
As of now, the identity of the deceased individual remains unknown. Due to the condition of the remains, positive identification may require more time than typical cases. An autopsy has been scheduled for further investigation.
