This week, Kansas will “Go Orange” in an effort to heighten public awareness about the importance of safety in work zones. Buildings, bridges, and fountains will illuminate orange, and everyone is encouraged to wear orange to show their support throughout the week.

Governor Laura Kelly has declared the week of April 15-19 as the National Work Zone Awareness Week in Kansas. This declaration serves as a reminder to drivers that adopting a slower pace, maintaining vigilance, reducing distractions, and exercising patience in road work zones can be a crucial factor in safeguarding lives.

Signs throughout the state will also advocate for safety within work zones.

The Go Orange initiative is a component of the National Work Zone Awareness Week, an annual safety drive in which KDOT, along with collaborating organizations, participates. The campaign emphasizes the risks encountered by both highway workers and drivers in work zones while advocating for safer practices.
