David Norman “Red” Dunlap, 73 years of age, of Aransas pass Texas, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024 at his residence in Concordia KS. He was born on March 13, 1951 in Portsmouth, Virginia to James and Aileen (Smith) Dunlap.
Red served in the United States Navy from March of 1969 to September of 1970 during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged.He was a member of the American Legion Post #76 in Concordia, Kansas.
Red worked for Bay Tank and Vessel in Corpus-Christi, Texas as a Tanker/ Welder for many years. He also owned and operated his own welding shop in Concordia years ago.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an all-around outdoorsmen. He loved to watch western movies. Red was a Texan at heart.
David is survived by Cindy Dunlap; a daughter, Krisha Dunlap (Sandy Suiter) of Concordia, KS; son, Anthony Dunlap, Concordia, KS; son, Lee (Erika) Dunlap of Louisville, KS two grandsons, Sabre Michael and Brandon Wayne (Kat); a granddaughter, Kaylie Suiter; two brothers, Ricky Dunlap (Sheila), Greensboro, NC; Tommy Dunlap (Rita), Multon, AL; a sister, Lanita McCullough of AL. and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Aileen, a brother, Tony Dunlap.
Red’s wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 24th at 1:00pm at Victory Faith Church. Located at 607 East Sixth Street in Concordia Kansas, with lunch to directly follow.
