Kansas State opened the scoring early in Thursday’s Sunflower Showdown, but Kansas came back to win 4-1 at Rock Chalk Park.
K-State (5-4-2, 0-3-1 Big 12) struck in the eighth minute when senior Andra Mohler finished a through ball from Jayce Woodward for her first career Big 12 goal. The Wildcats had chances to extend the lead, but Kansas (8-2-2, 2-2-0) equalized on a first-half penalty and added a second goal before halftime, marking the first time K-State trailed at the break under head coach Colleen Corbin.
In the second half, the Jayhawks added two more goals, while the Wildcats could not convert opportunities. K-State outshot Kansas 7-20 and held strong on defense at times, but the early lead was not enough to challenge the final result.
