Angee Morgan, deputy director of the Kansas Division of Emergency Management (KDEM), has been named the 2025 recipient of the Lacy E. Suiter Distinguished Service Award by the National Emergency Management Association (NEMA), one of the highest honors in the profession. The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation, and dedication to advancing emergency management, honoring the legacy of Lacy E. Suiter, a pioneer in the field.
Morgan, with more than 20 years of experience, was recognized for her commitment to improving preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts in Kansas and nationwide. She has guided the state through numerous disasters, fostered collaboration across local, state, federal, and private partners, and championed programs that enhance community resilience. Morgan has also influenced national policy through NEMA, mentoring future emergency management leaders and advocating for continuous improvement. She accepted the award at the 2025 NEMA Annual Forum in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
