Senator Jerry Moran joined other lawmakers to introduce the Pay Our Capitol Police Act. The bill would ensure that certain members of the U.S. Capitol Police, their civilian staff, and essential contractors continue to receive pay during the ongoing government shutdown.

The bill provides funding to pay Capitol Police officers who are on active duty, as well as civilian employees and contractors who directly support their work. It ensures coverage automatically during any period without approved appropriations, retroactive to October 1, 2025.

The Pay Our Capitol Police Act takes effect immediately once passed and will remain in place until the next appropriations bill is enacted or until September 30, 2026.
