A Tradition Since 1936, Piotique Comes Back to Clay Center

Clay Center, KS- It’s a tradition since 1936, and each year the annual Piotique festival in Clay County is held the last weekend of September.

Taylor Mall, from Grow Clay County gave KCLY, gave a run-down of some of the fun things that are planned as well as what Piotique actually means.

The 11th annual Cruise night starts at 6 pm and gives people the opportunity to show their old, restored, and unique vehicles downtown to circle around and park on the Courthouse Square.

Then on Saturday, Mall says the events kick off at 6:45 am for the Mark A. Chapman Road Race, and the one thing everyone looks forward to watching, the T-Rex race.

Other new things you can expect with Piotique this year is a putting contest right in front of the main stage.

There will be vendors of all sorts, train rides, bounces houses, face paintings, a kiddie parade, and tons of other fun things for the kids.

Then on Sunday, the Orange and Black Pack will be having their golf tournament at the Country Club.

And with over 40 nominations for this year’s Grand Marshall, KCLY’s very own Rocky Downing was selected as Grand Marshall, with the theme “Feels Like Home”. Rocky is a vinyl junkie, broadcaster, and a long-time sports voice for the listening area.

You can find the full list of events for Piotique on the Grow Clay County FB page.
