Galen and Lori Fink, residents of Randolph, are set to receive the 2024 Stockman of the Year award on February 29th. The Livestock & Meat Industry Council presents this award annually during the Stockmen’s Dinner, set to take place at the Stanley Stout Center in Manhattan.
Both Galen and Lori were raised on farms in eastern Kansas where they gained knowledge of cattle judging, business, and leadership skills. Their upbringing, along with a drive for innovation resulted in the establishment of Fink Beef Genetics. The seed operation utilizes technology, such as embryo transfer and artificial insemination, to provide commercial producers with cattle.
The Finks began by implanting embryos in the cattle of others, becoming the first in the United States to establish such a program. Annually, they implant over 800 embryos, conduct two sales, and provide over 600 bulls through private treaty.
The Finks have collaborated with US Premium Beef, Angus, and Charolais GeneNet, along with Meyer Natural Angus. In addition, they have established several feedlot partnerships to aid customers in securing premiums. Galen and Lori have also held leadership positions in numerous industry organizations, and Fink Beef Genetics has earned numerous awards for its achievements.
