Abilene School District Putting Bond Issue on the Table

By Ryan Duey

During a Board Meeting held last month, the Abilene School District members voted unanimously to approve a resolution to put a $3 million bond request to the voters.

Greg Brown, USD 435 Superintendent, says that after visiting with Science Teachers they found things that need addressing.

Brown states that with the current payoff of a bond from 2003, residents would not see much change in mill rate if the new Bond were approved.

The election will take place on April 18th. Brown and Assistant Superintendent Dana Sprinkle will start campaigning to the public starting March 4th.
