On January 30, 2024, High Plains Resources, a hydrogen extraction company, held a public information town hall in Clay Center.

In the time since, High Plains Resources’ Spokesperson Jason Rayburn said the company has been preparing to drill their first production well.

Rayburn said High Plains also plans to begin their 2D Seismic Shooting operations in early June.

High Plains is planning to hold two additional town halls in Abilene and Washington, on April 24 and 25 respectively, to answer public questions and concerns.
