City of Wakefield Looking To Increase Awareness Of Storm Shelter

By Quinn O’Hara

At the Wakefield City Council Workshop meeting on March 25, the group discussed increasing awareness of the City’s Storm Shelter in preparation for the Kansas tornado and severe thunderstorm season.

Kyle Murphy, the Wakefield City Superintendent, said the shelter is located at the Madura Church in Wakefield.

Murphy noted that the City Council is considering increasing signage around the small town to better direct those without a proper shelter in the event of severe weather to the shelter.
