Two Wichita Men Arrested in Major Federal Drug and Weapons Investigation

Authorities in Wichita say two men are in custody following a large-scale investigation into illegal drug sales and weapons violations. The suspects, both prior federal felons, were arrested Thursday morning during raids at multiple storefronts suspected of selling marijuana and other narcotics under the guise of legal CBD products.

During a news conference, law enforcement said the investigation began after detectives confirmed the sale of marijuana “straight from jars on the shelf,” which is illegal in Kansas. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) joined the case due to the suspects’ prior gun-related felony convictions.

During the operation, officers seized more than 20 firearms, including rifles, handguns, and even a flamethrower. Officials are working with the ATF to determine whether any of the weapons were stolen or illegally modified.

Investigators say the suspects’ businesses appeared to operate like legitimate CBD shops but were allegedly selling marijuana, methamphetamine, and fentanyl. The search of multiple locations is ongoing, and officials expect to spend several hours processing evidence.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office will review the case for potential federal charges. Authorities say both men are from Wichita and will be booked into the county jail later today.
