The Clay Center Carnegie Library has five Steam Kits available for check out.

The kits are large, clear plastic bags containing various toys, books, and models all relating to a certain topic.

The library currently has Steam Kits on the alphabet and numbers, dinosaurs, the human body, engineering, and phonics.

The kits are produced by a company called Penworthy and were purchased at the end of 2023 by the Friends of the Library Board to “provide hands on learning through exploring the different activities contained within each kit.” said Pixie Knepper, who is the Children’s Librarian and the Clay Center Carnegie Library. Knepper noted that the kits have been popular since their arrival.

Checking out the Stem Kits works the same as checking out a book from the library.
