On the evening of Tuesday, February 6th, the Clay Center City Council held their regular monthly meeting.
The Council discussed and approved a $4,000 grant to resurface the Reed Park basketball court. The Council allocated $1,500 to the After Prom Committee’s CCCHS prom celebration. The After Prom Committee received the same amount of funding for last year’s event.
The Council also approved the Accelerator Grant for the Clay Center Community Center project. With this approval, Grow Clay County will now move on to the next steps of the process. The Community Center has been proposed to be built near the Clay Center Community Middle School.
Clay Center Mayor Jimmy Thatcher said, “Funds like this don’t come around often, and [the council is] going to do the best [they] can to make this happen.”
