Clay Center FFA Received $300 Grant For New Clay Center Blessing Box

By Quinn O’Hara

A $300 FFA Living To Serve community project grant has been given to the Clay Center FFA to construct and install a new blessing box in front of the Clay County Health Department.

CCCHS Sophomore Alessia Carrales and Senior Audrey Burget stepped up to lead the project after the Clay Counts Coalition identified the need for a blessing box in the northern part of Clay Center. The two, who are also members of the local FFA and CCCHS YLinK, wrote the grant and organized the project. Burget previously said the project was part of the duo’s role with the FFA.

CCCHS Ag Teacher Andrea Flegler said the blessing box will be constructed and installed by CCCHS students. She said the group is aiming to have the project finished before the last day of school, but the date has yet to be decided. Regardless, Flegler said, if the project runs into summer break, she’s sure students will still be more than willing to lend a hand.
