Kansas Inmate Who Escaped From Work Release Remains Missing

An inmate who escaped from the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC) remains missing since 2:45 p.m. on December 18. He failed to return to the Johnson County Work Release Center while serving his sentence, according to a statement from KDOC.

Clifford Leon Evans, 52, is serving time for violating parole, he was convicted in Johnson County for possession of opiates. His sentence is being served at the Johnson County Department of Corrections (JCDOC) Adult Residential Center (ARC), from which he escaped.

The KDOC and JCDOC are in an agreement to place inmates with appropriate release plans for Johnson County at the ARC, promoting their reintegration into the community.

Evans is described as a white male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 131 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information on Evans is urged to contact law enforcement. `
