A statue of Jackie Robinson that was recently stolen from McAdams Park in Wichita has been found, according to a Facebook post from the city. Another post from League 42 said it was found dismantled and burned at Garvey Park.
On Wednesday night vandals cut the statue off above the feet. Video surveillance released by the Wichita Police Department shows the suspects loading the statue into a truck and taking off just before 12:20 a.m. The truck has since been recovered, but authorities didn’t comment on whether or not the owner is a suspect. They did, however, say they were following up on some promising leads.
Damages are estimated at $75,000. Anyone with any information is urged to reach out to Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111, or share your insights online at https://www.wichitasedgwickcountycrimestoppers.com/ or via their mobile app.
