Data released from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) reveals that Kansas experienced an economic growth of 9.7% in the third quarter of 2023, July through September, making it the fastest rate nationwide. This adds to a previous trend of economic growth as in the second quarter of the year, April through June, Kansas achieved the second-fastest growth rate in the nation at 7.4%.
Data also showed nationally Kansas ranked third in personal economic growth, with a 4.9% increase during the third quarter of 2023. Despite a nationwide decline, including in 41 other states, farming was the primary factor to the growth in Kansas.
Kansas’ economic growth is determined by the market value of goods and services generated within the state, or the change in its real gross domestic product (GDP).
