The Higher Learning Commission, or the HLC, has officially taken Cloud County Community College off probation effective June 22nd. Cloud was originally placed on probation in June 2021. The HLC determined that Cloud was out of compliance with one of their requirements.

Cloud County President Amber Knoettgen explained the timing of the previous visit from the HLC had occurred during the COVID-19 Pandemic, so it was entirely remote, which she said made it more difficult to show the good work the college was doing.

Since Cloud has addressed all the concerns since that visit, and they are now meeting all the criteria necessary for accreditation, the HLC has lifted the probation. The next scheduled visit from the HLC will be in 2026-2027.
